Studio / Guest House | WAMO Studio Architects | Santa Fe Architect | New Mexico Architect

Designed by WAMO Studio Architects, this modern studio and guest house redefines small-scale architecture in the high desert of New Mexico. Rooted in simplicity, sustainability, and precision, the project reflects our commitment as a leading Santa Fe architect and New Mexico architect specializing in high-performance, green modern design.

This contemporary guest house is conceived as a quiet architectural object in the landscape — a sculpted white volume hovering above a textured masonry base. The clean geometry contrasts with the organic movement of native grasses and mature trees, creating a dialogue between modern form and desert ecology.

At WAMO Studio Architects, we believe that modern architecture should be both poetic and performative. This studio integrates:

• Passive solar strategies
• High-performance building envelope design
• Thoughtful material selection
• Energy-efficient systems
• Climate-responsive detailing

The deep roof overhangs provide shade and seasonal protection, while the masonry base anchors the structure to the land — reflecting New Mexico’s architectural heritage through a contemporary lens.

Inside and out, light becomes the defining material. Morning and evening shadows animate the plaster walls, reinforcing our philosophy that modern buildings should interact with nature rather than compete with it.

As a modern architect in Santa Fe, our focus is not just on aesthetics, but on responsible, green building practices that create enduring spaces — healthy, efficient, and deeply connected to their environment.

This studio/guest house demonstrates how compact architecture can still be bold, sustainable, and timeless.
