With a mandate of meeting PassivHaus standards, this large custom home presents some challenges in orientation and programming. Like most of northern New Mexico, the predominate views are to the northwest or northeast.  Very deep exterior portals serve to protect the glazing from unwanted solar exposure. Automated exterior shades are controlled by environmental sensors inside the residence; when drawn form sculptural and stunning indoor/outdoor living areas.
