Mathematician House

Mathematician House

Approached designing this house for a mathematician couple using mathematical equations translated into 3d forms and interpreted into architectural language. The value of mathematical thinking in architecture has been emphasized in recent research, particularly in geometrical analyses, formal descriptions of architectural concepts and symbols, and the  engineering aspects of design. Consiglieri and consiglieri proposed to concentrate mathematics in architecture on composing the variety of complex objects from elementary geometrical forms. This building deals with two directions of complexity in geometrical objects for architectural design: a. Arranging regular shapes to cover a plane; tessellations.  B. Inter-secting solids; integrating and subdividing space by different types of polyhedral elements, while emphasizing and searching for efficient architectural solutions.  The intent of using mathematical equations is to explore options in cutting voids in solid forms.   Voids will either hide from or seek out the sun, depending on the parameters established by the program
