Passive House New Mexico was launched in July 2015 with the primary objectives of reducing the negative environmental impact of the building industry and enhancing the quality of life and health of its inhabitants and surrounding ecosystems. It aimed to serve as an open platform for the exchange of information on local, national, and international Passive House knowledge and passive building technologies. Unfortunately, due to insufficient interest and participation at the time, the organization was not successful and closed after a few events.
Fortunately, today there are numerous organizations offering valuable opportunities to join and access a wealth of knowledge while staying up-to-date on news and information. In our region, particularly the southwest, I highly recommend The Passive House Network (PHN).
According to the PHN website:
“Founded in 2011, we are a national 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides education and community to professionals across the US building industry. We’re focused on the rapid implementation of Passive House building standards to robustly address our climate and social justice crises. We work with global knowledge networks, in affiliation with the Passive House Institute. We’re all about showing that if we work together, we can build a better world.”
For those in the southwest area, Passive House Rocky Mountains (PHRM) serves the states of Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico. You can reach out to them through the following contact information:
