On June 25th 2012 PASSIVE HOUSE NEW MEXICO was launched

The primary objectives of Passive House New Mexico are to diminish negative environmental impact from the building industry and improve the quality of life and health of its inhabitants and surrounding ecosystems.  Passive House New Mexico is intended to be an open shared platform of information exchange for local, national, and international Passive House knowledge and passive building technologies.

Monthly meetings and presentations are scheduled to begin in July.  PHNM web presence and information hubs are currently in development. For additional information on meeting times and locations please send an email to Jonah@mo-s-a.com with a subject: PHNM

MEETING #1

PASSIVE HOUSE – NM Group

Thank you to all who joined us last evening for the first informal launch of a New Mexico PH Group.
There was a fantastic diversity of professions within the group.
Design / Development / Real Estate / Energy Raters  / Trainers / Administrators / PERFECT!!
Several items were discussed, however it is important to note that this was a very informal meeting and was intended to provide
input and general discussion regarding the formation of a PHNM group.
Organizational Umbrella:
There seemed to be a consensus that working with the SFCC existing orginization provided the greatest shared befits
to both the SFCC and the group members.  Amanda Evens is following up with related PH Alliance/Network affiliations to
gain a better understanding of the limitations & benefits available.  SFCC already has a very strong sustainability program – a PH-NM group fits well within their
open, nonpolitical, and educational mandates.
Discussion:
Several attendees discussed the desire for a non-politically based organization in terms of PHIUS/PHI current debates etc.
That the organizational focus should be on providing information/ increasing quality/ Disseminating and Learning from experience
We discussed the possible annual membership fee of 50$ which would cover an International Passive House Alliance ( iPHA )membership
This expense was generally acceptable by attendees.
Several specific topics were discussed regarding potential meeting subjects, such as WUFI training, Window & Shading PHPP inputs, and other glamourous
items.
Amanda Evens reminded people to apply for educational underwriting provided by SFCC by going to –   greenbuilding.greentraining.sfcc.edu
